Kym Marsh has announced that she is taking an indefinite break from Coronation Street.
The actress has played Michelle Connor in the ITV soap for over a decade and decided it was time to go temporary.
She said, "When I was fortunate to be offered four episodes, I never would have thought, in my wildest dreams, that I would be here 13 years later.
"It was an incredibly difficult decision, but it seems to me to be the right time to explore other roles.
"But that's not the last thing you've heard from Michelle Connor – she'll come back! I can not wait to see what writers have in store for the future."
It is not clear how or when Kym will be advertised Corriebut it is expected to be in soap later this year.
Kym Marsh first became known as a member of Hear & # 39; Say in 2000, but later became a member Corrie in 2006.
She was named the best newcomer at the 2007 British Soap Awards and the 2007 National Television Awards. At the 2017 British Soap Awards she received the Best Female Drama Performance award.
