LABOR's frontbenches yesterday repeatedly refused to tell voters in a series of car accident interviews which major road projects they plan to pay for Jeremy Corbyn's multi-billion pound reduction in rail fares.
Mr Corbyn promised to use the car tax revenue currently earmarked for an upgrade of the creaking UK road network worth GBP 29 billion to reduce train tickets by one-third.
But Andy McDonald, the secretary of Shadow Transport, could not say which of the street investment projects would be sacrificed.
And he declined to exclude scrapping improvements on the A303, A30, A358 in the southwest, improvements to the A1, North and the A14 between Cambridge and Huntingdon.
Mr. McDonald said repeatedly which projects would not run: "I would like to look at these plans, as I am aware that some of the preparations and planning for these were not perfect, and I would like to make an assessment right where we are right now. "
In the meantime, Mr. Corbyn refused to say why the big promise for train tickets was not revealed in the Labor Manifesto last month.

Grilled about his latest surprise policy, he simply said, "It's here now."
It is the result of the first 27-day Christmas strike of the militant RMT union, which financially supported Mr. Corbyn's campaign for election as Labor leader in 2015.
Tory Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said, "Corbyn's Labor would bring Britain to a standstill."

Is there no limit to Labor's bribes towards middle-class voters at the expense of the poor? If it was not illegal, they only spent cash on the front doors.

Much more people, especially outside the capital, rely on the streets.
But Corbyn would save a third of the rail fares by spending the money to modernize the street: £ 1,000 for well-heeled London commuters who were taken from the low-income earners his party had once fostered. It is "for the few of the many".
Maybe Corbyn hopes to distract us. Because we can now see exactly how the trains would look under Labor.
Just look at the wretched month-long South Western Railway strike that its RMT union counterparts have triggered.
And imagine, they paralyze a whole renationalized network.
