Juliette Kaplan, the actress of Last Of The Summer Wine, died at the age of 80 after suffering from cancer.

Between 1985 and 2010 she played the role of Pearl Sibshaw for 25 years in the popular BBC sitcom.

Her tenure in the series included 226 episodes in which her character spent most of her time thwarting her husband's attempts to have an affair.

Most notably known for her role as Pearl, Kaplan has appeared in EastEnders, Coronation Street and Doctors throughout her long career as an entertainer.

She was married to Harold Hoser from 1958 until his death in 1981 and had three children.

She was born on October 2, 1939 in Bournemouth, but spent much of her childhood in South Africa.

In 2012, Kaplan told Kent Life that she had only returned to Bournemouth because her mother wanted to send her to drama school to "spice my voice up."

Her accent had been influenced by her time in South Africa and a year in New York.

Kaplan spoke with Kent Life to promote a solo show at the Margate Theater Royal, where she imitated her beloved role from Last Of The Summer Wine.

Her 2015 appearance as Agnes Tinker on Coronation Street marked her last television work.

When Agent Barry Langford announced her death on Thursday, she tweeted, "Juliette Kaplan, & # 39; Our Pearl & # 39 ;, has finally succumbed to the cancer she has so valiantly fought for so long.

"Many thanks to everyone who has sent their love and support to this fearless and gifted actress, as she said, 'Ta-ta and it was fun."
