Schwarzer, who scored countless savings throughout the game, praised the game plan used by the Portuguese that day.

"We were very confident in the tactics that Jose Mourinho wanted to do," he added.

"Many people were not satisfied with the time wasted, but against Liverpool, especially in the way they played this season, the best way to get them off the game was to slow them down.

"We knew they would not change their style of play, so if we restricted them and we had a chance to score, we would grab them.

"After the game, Brendan Rodgers complained that we had two buses parked outside the gate, but that's what you do."

Schwarzer compared the meeting with that of five years ago this weekend when Chelsea once again wants to spoil Liverpool's title fight.

"There are so many similarities to 2014 in this game – this game has history and is very different from others," he said.

"We knew how important the game was in running Liverpool and how much it would be a daunting task.

"The atmosphere helped them first, but the way we started and slowed down the game, it frustrates the entire stadium.

"Everyone expected Liverpool to win this game, it's always nice to be part of a team when you're upset."
