A man and a woman were charged after a small child was severely injured in an incident in the Mosside area of ​​Ballymoney on Friday.

Both a 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were charged with cruelty to children who had deliberately caused serious bodily harm and had caused or condemned a child or vulnerable adult to serious physical injury.

The Belfast Telegraph is known to be a five-week-old baby brought to the Royal Victoria Hospital on Friday for treatment.

The fees are checked as usual by the prosecutor.

Locals said the police arrived on Friday morning and secured the property.

John McAuley, local DUP councilor, said, "The whole community is in shock."

"My thoughts are with the little boy in the hospital, hopefully he'll get through."
