Marugal Distinctive Hotel Management has announced its landing in a third market: UK, after the incorporation into its portfolio of managed hotels of the The Great Northern Hotel, to Tribute Portfolio Hotel. From this month, the Spanish firm will be in charge of supervising the renovation process that is being carried out and is scheduled to reopen this spring. In this way, the portfolio that included, until now, nine establishments in Spain and France grows.
The hotel stands in an emblematic building of London, originally designed in 1854 by Kings Cross station architect Lewis Cubbitt. The Great Northern Hotel opened in 2013, after a complete renovation that kept its facade and its 88 rooms.
At the moment the oldest railway hotel in London is undergoing renovations in its common areas and in the bar on the street level and a new exclusive lounge is being built for guests.
“It is a location outside the typical locations, in an area of the city that would be attractive to local people, such as our URSO hotel in Madrid, for example.. King’s Cross It is a fascinating area of the city, in which significant investments have been made in recent years; and what I like the most is that now it is an amazing mix of Victorian splendor, posh post-industrial buildings, stylish restaurants, and excellent shops “, he explained Pablo Carrington, founder of the management company.
“We are delighted to work with Intriva Capital in this project, as well as in the other development that we have together with them on the Costa del Sol. Together with the hotel team we hope to make The Great Northern Hotel what it deserves to be: the heart of King’s Cross ”, he said Carrington
For its part, Tom Saunders, of Intriva Capital Advisors LLP., the firm that owns The Great Northern Hotel, has stated that “we are fully committed to our support of the hotel sector in these challenging times we are living in” and that they trust that Marugal will carry out a “successful operation that will turn the hotel into the heart of this area ”.
The hotel has two additions to its management team, leading the one that is now Ariane Jessamine-Herd as CEO and Jeremy Daudin as sales director.
For the past six years Jessamine-Herd has held management positions at Firmdale Hotels and Knightsbridge Hotel and Daudin comes from former International Sales Director at The Standard Hotels.
