Joel Matip will miss the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Everton on Wednesday night.

The Reds meet the Blues for the 234th time, welcoming Anfield which promises to be a brave encounter.

Matip has not played for Liverpool since the 1-1 draw against Manchester United in October.

Speaking At Melwood on Tuesday, Klopp confirmed that the Cameroonian was still missing, adding that he was the Reds' only concern with injuries, unless Fabinho was absent in the long run:

Joel needs a little more time, it's a cure, but it's not exactly what we wanted. It takes a little more time, so it will take a while.

The others are fit and available.

Matip has been a big loss since his knee injury, even though Dejan Lovren played well in his place.

Earlier the 28-year-old will come back better, but Klopp's words suggest it may take some time before he returns home.

Liverpool knows how crucial a win over rivals Merseyside will be on Wednesday night, as they look to keep up the momentum.

Everton is looking for a first win at Anfield since 1999.
