The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) detained Raúl Cantú de la Garza, candidate for mayor of Salinas Victoria, Nuevo León, for the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) party, accused of possession of 3 long weapons of exclusive use of the Army, with their respective magazines supplied, in addition to 80 rounds.
Cantú de la Garza’s arrest was carried out during an operation carried out by elements of the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA) and the Federal Ministerial Police, who also found marijuana, jewelry, and cash.
“This person is charged with the crime of bribery for trying to negotiate his freedom with the federal Public Ministry,” according to the FGR, an institution that carried out a search of a home located on Hidalgo Street in said municipality, owned by Cantú de la Heron.
In a statement, the FGR announced that the searches carried out yesterday in Salinas Victoria were carried out by the Special Deputy Attorney General for Organized Crime Investigation (SEIDO), with the support of SEDENA and the Federal Military Police.
Likewise, the FGR indicated that the First Judge of Control, attached to the National Center of Justice Specialized in Control of Investigation Techniques, Arraigos and Intervention of Communications, was the one who authorized the searches in various homes, including one where Evaristo Cruz was captured, alias “El Vaquero” or “Señor 46”, identified as the leader of the Gulf Cartel in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

The federal judge – with jurisdiction throughout the Republic and residence in Mexico City – executed the search warrants in the state of Nuevo León, where four people were detained related to the probable commission of crimes against health, rape to the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives, as well as organized crime.
Along with “El Vaquero”, David “V” and Nicolás “A” were arrested, to whom they assured various substances, three pistols, a long gun and cartridges. Two communication radios, money, cell phones, three vehicles, electronic tablets and a bill counting machine were also confiscated from them.
Both homes searched are located on Miguel Hidalgo Street, in the same neighborhood and municipality. However, the Attorney General’s Office did not specify that there is a link between the captured capo and the candidate for mayor of Movimiento Ciudadano.
“El Vaquero” -for whom the Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office offered a reward of 2 million pesos for information leading to his capture-, was arrested around 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 6, by elements of SEDENA and the National Guard (GN), in the municipality of Salinas Victoria, Nuevo León.
The American digital medium Breitbart News, indicated that the capture of “El Vaquero” occurred when he was meeting with a man nicknamed “Chango Villarreal”, a local chief and former member of the Los Zetas cartel, who currently operates for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
Local media based on sources indicated that “El Vaquero” was considered the fourth priority objective in the fight against drug trafficking in the northeast region, both for the Government of Tamaulipas and for the Government of Texas, in the United States.
The center of operations of “El Vaquero” was Matamoros, a municipality that borders Texan territory on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Last May, the weekly Proceso reported that the Tamaulipas Security Secretariat had secured two buildings: one in the Valle Hermoso municipality, with a large arsenal of long weapons, including Barrett rifles. While in Rio Bravo, Cruz had a workshop to make “narco tanks.”
