German Arsenal midfielder Mesut Özil, who has not played for his club since March, wants to try Turkish and American football before retiring, he said in an interview via Twitter.

Six months after ending his contract with the London team, the 32-year-old 2014 world champion underwent a question and answer session on the social network.

“Of course I will continue, there are two countries where I would like to play football before I retire, Turkey and the United States,” he said.

“If I go to Turkey, it could only be Fenerbahçe,” he said of the Istanbul club he was a fan of during his childhood in Germany, where he was born, the son of Turkish parents.

“Fenerbahçe is like Real Madrid in Spain, it is the biggest club in the country,” added the one who was a white midfielder from 2010 to 2013.

Discarded by Arsenal, which did not even include him in their list of players for the Europa League, despite being the highest paid of the squad ($ 468,000 per week), Ozil said he “never” regretted signing for the English club .

“I really appreciated this period and I think we were on a good trajectory, but unfortunately after the interruption things had changed,” he said about the stoppage in competitions due to the pandemic.
