Ministry of Health reports 429 new deaths from Covid-19 and 2,252 more confirmed cases

The Ministry of Health reported this Monday, February 22 2,252 new cases of Covid-19 in Mexico, giving a cumulative of 2 million 043,632 confirmed infections.

The death toll rose to 180,536, after they were registered 429 new deaths compared to those notified yesterday.

At a press conference at the National Palace, Ricardo Cortés, director of Health Promotion, said that the health authority estimates that the epidemic at the national level is made up of 47,168 active cases of people who began with signs and symptoms of this disease in the last 15 days.

The federal health authority calculates that based on the percentage of positivity registered in epidemiological week 6 of 2021, the estimated cases of coronavirus infections in Mexico amount to 2 million 238,558 cases.

The specialist explained that 1 million 602,024 people who have suffered from the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the country recovered.

In the country, a nasopharyngeal sample has been taken for a PCR test from 5 million 285,123 people.

Of the 31,743 general beds to care for severe Covid-19 patients nationwide, 10,476 (33%) are occupied, mainly in Mexico City with 58%; Puebla with 54% and the State of Mexico with 52 percent.

Out of the 11,190 beds with mechanical ventilators for critical Covid-19 patients, 4,075 (36%) are occupied in the country, mainly in: Mexico City with 63 percent. Meanwhile, 31 states report an occupation of less than 50 percent.
