Memé Bartolomé shows in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia a photograph “captured early in the morning on the Barcelona seafront.
The promenade is one of the most emblematic places in the city of Barcelona, since there is a confluence of activities throughout the year, from leisure and gastronomy to sports both in and out of the sea.
After being nominated Barcelona as the organizing city of the 1992 Olympic Games, the recovery and transformation of the entire coastal area of the city was promoted.
The promenade, which runs from the port and Barceloneta to the Fòrum area, is not only one of the longest, but one of the most intensively used throughout the year.
In total, four kilometers of coastline that included the promenade were rehabilitated for the Olympic Games. This part of Barcelona has not stopped growing since then. Today it is home to hotels, bars, restaurants, nightclubs and many other attractions.
It is common to see thousands of bathers in summer, but during all months of the year, also in winter, the beaches and the promenade are a meeting point, for example, to practice sports such as running or surfing, as well as for long and pleasant walks on foot, on a scooter or by bicycle.
