The agreement between the parties wants to promote the use and free technology reuse for citizen participation, in public administrations and social entities, and work in a collaborative with other public institutions and social agents to join forces in deepening the technological sovereignty and improving the quality of democracy in the digital age.
In addition, the agreement establishes a framework of economic contributions by the signatory administrations and those who want to join, which will from 3,000 to 50,000 euros depending on whether the Administration’s population is less than 50,000 inhabitants or greater than 250,000, respectively.

Any organization or person can contribute to improve its development and functionalities, thanks to the community that contributes to the project and the Decidim Free Software Association.
Until now, there have been many public administrations and social entities in Catalonia and in the world that have implemented the platform and adapted it to their needs. In addition to the Generalitat de Catalunya, the project has reached a score of countries, to local governments such as those of Mexico City, Helsinki, New York and Kakogawa, in Japan, or institutions such as the French National Assembly.
Another of the organizations that has implemented the Decidim project has been the European Comission, which in 2019 recognized it as one of the most innovative open source projects of Europe.
