The development team at Toyota Gazoo Racing was the key to refining the ride, which has been refined on both public roads and racetracks including the Nürburgring. The Supra, according to Toyota has a higher structural integrity than the Lexus LFA supercar, a lower center of gravity than the cheaper Toyota GT86 and a weight distribution of 50:50 front / rear. To achieve the latter, the engine had to be pushed as far as possible under the hood.

The car has a large central grille with air intakes and LED headlights with six lenses that lead into the long, low bonnet, which together with the double bladder roof minimizes air resistance.

Inside Toyota, the Supra cockpit was inspired by single-seater racing cars, with a low dashboard to maximize forward visibility and the main controls tightly grouped together. The interior of the Supra reflects its development alongside the Z4 and makes intensive use of the switchgear from BMW.

There is a leather-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel, racing-inspired Alcantara seats and an 8.8-inch digital driver display, as well as a central 8.1-inch multimedia display that can be operated via a touchscreen or rotary control , The trunk measures 290 liters, compared to 281 liters in the Z4.

The GR Supra is introduced with two trim levels called Active and Premium. High-spec premium models get black leather upholstery, a JBL sound system with 12 speakers, a head-up display and a wireless smartphone charger.

Built next to the Z4 in Graz, Austria, the first deliveries of the GR Supra are due in late summer, and in the first year 900 vehicles were registered in Europe.

The first 90 pre-order European customers will be offered a limited edition A90 Edition, which reflects the development vehicle's chassis code. It is equipped with a Storm Gray matte finish, black alloy wheels and a leather interior rear.
