The young man still had hopes of recovering from coronavirus and that made it clear to his family: “Once I recover, God first, and we will move on,” he said in the video.
“Whatever happens, they will be looking out for my interests, always. I love them and they are in my heart ”, said Padilla Hernández at the end of the short video.
Sergio Humberto Padilla was only 28 years old when he died
The nurse died on November 6, a few hours after being intubated at the hospital where he worked, according to CNN data. The events took place in Cuauhtémoc, in the state of Chihuahua, in Mexico.
Sergio Humberto, 28, is not the only one in the family who lost the battle to COVID-19. His sister, Dolores Padilla Hernández, died of the same virus three months earlier, on August 8, at age 30, her cousin Adalberto Hernández told CNN.
Almost the entire family of the young nurse was infected with COVID-19
But the case of Sergio and Dolores were not the only ones. Almost his entire family fell ill with COVID-19. Padilla Hernández’s mother was hospitalized for a time and her father had to receive oxygen at home. Dolores’ twin sister and her daughter also fell ill.
Sergio Humberto’s wife, Denise, and their 5-year-old son, Sergio III, are healthy. But now they will have to face life without a husband and father.
Padilla Hernández worked as a nurse at Hospital Ángeles Cuauhtémoc. He risked his life to help others during the pandemic. But unfortunately he tested positive on October 22, according to data from his relatives. The young man stayed home while he recovered, but on November 5 he had to be admitted to the hospital because he showed difficulty breathing. A day later he died.
