Officers called Gloucester pub as Gloucestershire drinkers wake up from “headache” after Super Saturday

People across Gloucestershire wake up this morning after a day when pubs have opened for the first time in months.

Pubs, restaurants and hairdressers across Gloucestershire opened for the first time since March this evening with people lining up to get a pint.

For many it was a safe and sober day with locals claiming to have an “excellent opening night”.

But others are waking up in Gloucester this morning with headaches.

Gloucestershire Constabulary officers were called to the Ridge and Furrow pub in Abbeymead around 9:30 PM after reporting anti-social behavior.

But people supported the place by saying that “the staff has been AMAZING all day” and that it has been “few to spoil it for many”.

A force spokesman confirmed that he had participated but no arrests were made. “The pub has closed and everyone has gone their own way,” they said.

They added that the officers did not order the pub to close.

Meanwhile, in Gloucester city center, officers had to make sure the “Super Saturday odd” were at home after bedtime, but said that people were mostly “in a good mood” and that the Cross was empty by midnight.

“It will probably be some headache in the morning,” they added.

They helped someone in Gloucester Quays who had drunk too many drinks and needed to go home safely.

At Gloucester’s Treddy they thanked the bettors for being patient, but they couldn’t wait to see customers soon.

In a statement on their Facebook page they said: “Excellent opening night @ The Treddy! I would like to thank everyone who came and supported such a wonderful place in these difficult times. For all those who queued, we can only apologize, the place was too busy to fit everyone.

They added: “We will continue to improve the site daily to meet the current covid – 19 regulations!

We look forward to welcoming you again through our doors, staying safe

The Treddy “
