Vlez beat Deportivo Camioneros 3-1 for the 32nd final of the Argentine Cup and advanced to the next instance. The game was played at Arsenal’s Julio Humberto Grondona stadium.
This is how Liniers’ team was able to break a streak of consecutive eliminations in their last debuts (against Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero in 2018 and Real Pilar in 2019). The team led by Mauricio Pellegrino will face the winner of Talleres de Córdoba and Atlético de Rafaela.
In the first half, the First Division team controlled the actions and at times showed the difference of categories with respect to the cast that military in the Federal Tournament A. All goals were in the initial 45 minutes where Vélez quickly opened the scoring.
At 6 minutes Pablo Galdames Millán and 4 minutes later he extended the difference with a goal from Hernán de la Fuente. It was thanks to a great assistance from Luca Orellano, one of the figures of the match, who, before enabling his teammate, threw a pipe into the opposite area. At 24 he discounted Truckers thanks to Gonzalo Parisi who scored a penalty. However, five minutes later Marcelo Brizuela put the score 3 to 1.
In the Truckers complement he did not give up and tried to reduce the differences with Vélez, without much effort he was able to maintain the advantage in the score. At 34 minutes, the Velez striker, Cristian Tarragona, had a clear chance, but his header was contained by goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos.
At 38 minutes, there was a curious event that was the premiere of a 19-year-old named Lenny Lobato, who is the first player of the Velez inferiors born in Brazil to make his debut in the club’s Primera, which has already had others three Brazilians throughout history. The boy was born in Búzios, Rio de Janeiro, and is the grandson of the remembered vedette Nélida Lobato.
Two other relatives of acquaintances who were part of the match were Nicolás and Facundo Moyano, sons of Pablo Moyano, vice president of Independiente and union leader of truckers.
In the epilogue, Vélez again demonstrated his superiority and Jara confirmed that it was the figure of Truckers deflecting a ball to the corner kick after another shot from Tarragona.
There was no surprise this time around and Velez lived up to expectations.
It was a good start to the 2021 season for the Pellegrino cast that has just won the League Cup (1-0 against Newell’s). While Truckers could not deliver the blow nor was it close to the feat as in that elimination against independent in 2017 when they lost on penalties.
