One thousand 903 deaths from Covid-19 in Jalisco, associated with diabetes: SSJ – States

Puerto Vallarta, Jal. The Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) reported that 43 percent of deaths from Covid-19 in the entity are associated with diabetes. Thus, of the 4,427 people who have died in the state from the pandemic, 1,903 were related to this comorbidity.

For this reason, the Ministry of Health asked people sick with this disease to take extreme precautions against Covid-19 because they are more prone to developing symptoms and serious complications that can lead to death.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), people with diabetes have an impaired immune system, which affects their ability to fight the new disease and makes recovery in many cases longer, the SJS abounded.

On the eve of World Diabetes Day, which is commemorated this November 14, the agency estimates that in Jalisco there are about 53 thousand 389 people suffering from diabetes, of which 36 thousand 661 are women and 16 thousand 728 are men.

Given this, the SSJ informed the population that the pandemic is still active, for which it invited the population to postpone celebrations and meetings of all kinds, including those held in lounges, terraces, clubs and common spaces, including private addresses.
