Our travel experts reveal their best summer stay choices

WHERE TO STAY

thyme

Thyme is one of my favorite hotels in the UK. It is set in the village of Southrop in a box of chocolates and, once inside, it is a series of natural sensory experiences. He started his life as a cooking school and gastronomic standards remain. From the contemporary bedrooms to the spa with lawn and the heated swimming pool with spring water, it is very compelling. The Slaughters Manor House

If you intend to become the owner of the manor for a day or two, you need a hotel with ample opportunity to swim inside – in this case the wide lawns overlooking Lower Slaughter – one of the most beautiful villages in England . This was my first overnight stay in the Cotswolds and since then I have had a soft spot for this; however an elegant makeover in 2016 led him to a gallop in the 21st century. Under its original stucco ceilings is a combination of soothing colors with vibrant touches, the ubiquitous leather sofas offset by playful accessories and modern art. The rooms are individually decorated, but my vote goes to the airy rooms in the old block. If you want a four poster bed, you will have to stay in the main house. (From £ 180 per night; slaughtersmanor.co.uk)

Sapperton Yurt

Of course, there are cheaper but appropriately chi-chi alternatives in the Cotswolds. This superluxe yurt is located on a magical farm track, among wild woods and pretty meadows. It comes complete with decadent interiors, covered area and bonker touches, such as a roll-top bath in a horse stall. (From £ 115 per night; canopyandstars.co.uk)
