Today marks the first day that pubs and restaurants in Cheltenham can reopen after being closed for months including one of the city’s Wetherspoons: The Bank House.
It seemed that some people were looking forward to getting their hands on a pint or simply returning to their venue as a number of people were already filling the tables in The Bank House on Clarence Street before 11am.
But the place may seem a little different from how they remember it.
The social stickers away were on the floor in what is normally the smoking area.
The signs were also installed outside the room to let customers know that there is a maximum capacity of nine in the smoking area, despite being just outside the room.
However, some things always seemed the same with the staff at the door outside the venue and the staff inside could be seen trying to clear the tables and collect their glasses while remaining at a safe distance from the staff.
Despite the government’s late announcement that pubs could reopen from 6 am today, many pubs in the city have remained closed, preferring to open late in the day.
While there are some clubs in Cheltenham, such as Tailors, who have decided to postpone the reopening date until they are able to do so safely.
