Police opened an investigation into a hit and run in a village in Cambridgeshire this afternoon.

Officers were called to the scene of the crash of High Street, Waterbeach at 5:00 pm today (Sunday, November 10).

The incident involved a blue Ford Focus and a white Ford Transit van. The car moved off the stage and was later found on Lode Avenue, near the train station.

The East England Ambulance Service was present and the van driver was treated for minor injuries.

A Cambridgeshire police spokeswoman said: "Officers were called to report a collision on High Street, Waterbeach at 5:00 pm today (Sunday, November 9).

"A blue Ford Focus and a white Ford Transit van were involved.

"The car left the scene and was found later on Lode Avenue and the vehicle was found for forensic investigations.

"An ambulance arrived at the scene and the van driver was treated for minor injuries.

"The road is now clear."

"If anyone has witnessed the driving of High Street towards Lode Avenue or someone who left the car, please call 101 and quote the 384 incident."
