Premier League Live: Liverpool wins, Manchester City defeat against SouthamptonInsideSport

Liverpool won on his return to Anfield as Premier League champion, overcoming a turgid display to beat Aston Villa, threatened by relegation.

Artists of the caliber of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Divock Origi were granted rare starts and failed to impress, having been replaced before Sadio Mane and Curtis Jones settled the game late.

Premier League Live: Manchester City shocked by Southampton

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he is struggling to understand why his team has lost nine Premier League games this season.

The city lost 1-0 to Southampton on Sunday – a third defeat in the league.

It is the first time in his career that Guardiola has overseen a race like this, while nine defeats are the most that the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has ever had in one campaign.

“We played pretty well, but it’s not enough to win games,” he said.

That Adams scored his first goal in Southampton, putting pressure on Ederson for 40 yards, to earn Southampton a hard fought victory over Manchester City. Previously, Newcastle drew West Ham and Sheffield United gained one point late in Burnley.

Chelsea maintained fourth place on Saturday despite Manchester United’s huge victory over Bournemouth. Leicester City returned to winning ways when Jamie Vardy scored his 100th and 101st goals in the Premier League against Crystal Palace and Arsenal, winning a Wolves victory.
