It's no secret that Princess Diana was a fashion icon.
Like Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle today, people have fallen out of their clothes and were desperate to find out what the princess was wearing.
And as the years went on, Diana's outfits became more and more adventurous.
You may recall her iconic black form-fitting 'revenge' dress from 1994, which was on the same night that Prince Charles had been affair with Camilla.
Diana wore which turned heads – a slinky Dior slip dress.
The navy dress, with a lace trim, which was worn by the mum-of-two at the annual Met Gala in New York in 1996, and it's now considered a key piece of fashion history.
This is because of a marked change in Diana's fashion evolution, as she moved away from her conservative royal attire.
But it turns out Diana almost did not wear the dress that night – and there's an interesting reason why.
According to MailOnline, Diana was worried about her son's reaction to seeing her in the gown.
She was concerned that Prince William, who was 14 at the time, would be embarrassed of revealing that dress on the then, 35-year-old.
Those who are not familiar with the beautiful silk dress, which Diana paired with pearls and sapphires, now have a chance to see it in person.
The glamorous gown is currently on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, as part of their new Christian Dior exhibition.
The exhibition, Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams, is on the Museum from now until July, with adult admission costing between £ 20 and £ 24.
Diana's fashion choices were not the only cause for concern Prince William.
According to royal biographer Katie Nicholl, William what is "embarrassed" by his mum's public life.
For her 2010 biography, William and Harry, Katie spoke to William's childhood friend Kitty Dumbleby who revealed all.
She said, "I do not remember being distracted by what's going on at home.
"At the time there is a lot in the papers about Charles and Diana's marriage being in trouble."
She added, "William told me, 'dad never embarrasses me but mummy sometimes does."
