San Lorenzo, with the presentation of Diego Dabove as DT, defeated Arsenal de Sarandí last night 2 to 1 at home. Brunto Pittón and Franco Di Santo, scored the goals of the Cyclone, at 5 and 9 minutes of play, respectively; while Julián Navas discounted, at 30, for those from Sarandí.
The commitment to Dabove – a coach who had good campaigns in Godoy Cruz and Argentinos Juniors – paid off in the debut of Boedo’s team in the Professional League Cup. Five minutes into the match played at Pedro Bidegain, Pittón managed to open the account for the local in a play that began with a corner kick. And four minutes later, after a cross from Peruzzi and a header from Di Santo, San Lorenzo extended the lead.
Far from settling for the advantage, San Lorenzo continued its dominance in the midfield – with good work from Juan Ramírez, Diego Rodríguez and Jalil Elías – and continued to touch Nico Navarro’s goal with danger. However, Arsenal reacted and took a few meters ahead on the field of play looking to get back into the game. He did it after 30 minutes, with a header at the angle of Julián Navas to put the process 2-1.
In the second half, San Lorenzo was giving up the pressure and the intensity of the game against an Arsenal that was increasingly animated and that won fescura with the changes proposed by Sergio Rondina. At times outnumbered and with Arsenal playing dangerously close to Fernando Monetti’s goal, Dabove moved his chips and determined the income of the Romero brothers.
Thus the last minutes were pure vertigo, with those of Sarandí closer to the draw than San Lorenzo to extend the advantage.
