Liverpool and Brazil teammates, Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker, burst into tears while the goalkeeper helped the attacker in a Christian baptism.
Firmino went to Instagram on Wednesday to share his video with the fans during the ceremony, which was attended by a large crowd.
The video begins to show a singer accompanied by a keyboard player and a number of people watching.
Firmino then enters a swimming pool with Alisson waiting for him, and is joined by his wife Larissa before Alisson helps him dip his head in the water to complete the process.
Firmino then embraces his wife and both seem to cry, while Alisson can be seen in the visibly emotional background and wiping tears from his eyes.
Together with the video Firmino included a caption in Portuguese which translates to: “I gave my failures and the victories that I will give to you too.
“My greatest title is your love Jesus. Therefore, if someone is in Christ, it is a new creation.
“Old things are gone; behold, new things have come.”
Fans turned to social media to congratulate the Reds star, other players such as Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian, West Ham’s Felipe Anderson and Tottenham’s Lucas Moura who sent their support.
Both Firmino and Alisson have become the favorites of Anfield fans and seem to have made a connection with the field.
Firmino scored the Reds’ only goal in their last game, a 1-0 win over the Spurs, while Alisson has also played an important role, keeping a clean sheet in his last five games in a row.
The pair is expected to return to action during Liverpool’s massive clash with Manchester United’s rivals on Sunday as they try to continue their relentless march to an absolutely inevitable punch in the absolute Premier League title.
