Ruth Langsford was forced to retire from Friday’s Morning Morning after contracting a mysterious illness.
Her husband Eamonn Holmes broke the news on Instagram, admitting that she is too unwell to enter the studio amid concerns about the coronavirus.
Instead, it will host the ITV daytime show with Rochelle Humes.
“In 4 Ruth. The bad news is Ruth a little under the weather today,” he wrote.
“The good news is Rochelle and I will mate again. A delightful friend and colleague and always a joy to be around.”
After Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Thursday briefing, patients are asked to self-isolate themselves at home for seven days if they have a cough or some deadly coronavirus symptoms, including temperature or fever.
These are part of the precautionary measures aimed at “flattening the curve” of the infection rate so that the already too tense national health system can cope with an influx of patients.
It also means that only those sick enough to be hospitalized with respiratory problems will now be tested for COVID-19.
Ruth and Eamonn present this morning every Friday as part of their agreement with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
Ruth was also forced to retire from her QVC show on Thursday night.
Eamonn posted a photo of the crowd at the Manchester City / Manchester United derby at Old Trafford earlier this week, describing it on Instagram as “the only place to be”.
It is not known if Ruth was with him.
