January is simply the worst month of the year; it’s cold, it’s dark and it’s dark AF. Take a step forward Ryanair. The budget airline announced another big sale, giving us something to look forward to.
Prices start at £ 7.99 one way – which can take you to Alghero, a small town on the coast of Sardinia. It would be really rude not to
From a limited time – until Sunday 19 January – you can book flights to destinations all over Europe, including Palma de Mallorca from £ 7.99, Ibiza from £ 12.99 and Malta even from less than a tenner.
The travel window is also very generous; you can fly anytime between February and May, which means you can book your cheap flights as soon as possible, but then save on expenses if necessary.
If you’re ready for a city break, you have plenty to choose from, including Berlin, Germany from £ 12.99 – you may finally be able to get into Berghain. There are also offers for the likes of Copenhagen, Denmark from £ 9.99; Krakow, Poland from £ 14.99; and Bratislava, Slovakia from £ 9.99.
You can also go a little off the track and go to Sweden for a skiing holiday (see what I did there). With flights starting at £ 9.99, Après Ski (obviously the best thing about skiing) will pay for itself.
For those of us after a little sun and a little culture, you can get to Barcelona for less than £ 10 each way. Tapas and sangria are literally ten.
To really get the most out of the sun, you can also fly to Morocco, Northwest Africa, from £ 12.99.
The country boasts numerous luxury hotels at very reasonable prices, in addition to the option of going on the Atlas mountains on tour, or enjoying a few days on the beach, as well as visiting the famous souks (open-air markets) in Marrakech and choosing yourself a real bargain.
Other places with guaranteed near enough sun are the Canaries – you can get there for under £ 30 – a small price to pay for the sun in February.
Flights are first served first and, of course, you will need to check the return prices to make sure you get a decent deal. But if you’re flexible enough, you may well get the perfect pick-me-up.
