Shoe Zone: question mark about the future of the city store

Anthony Smith, chief executive officer of the Leicester-based company, made the announcement while asking for lower trade rates.

However, the company did not make specific comments on the feasibility of its King Street store or if the commercial rates were too high in St. Helier.

Speaking to the BBC yesterday, he said, “It’s a simple math question. Whenever a lease is presented, we’ll examine the math. If we’re not making money … the store will unfortunately close.”

JEP approached Shoe Zone to comment on the future of its Jersey store.
