Dave Jones and Jamie Carragher weren’t happy on Monday Night Football after West Ham United forward Michail Antonio admitted that he is no longer celebrating goals with enthusiasm due to VAR.

Antonio landed a double for West Ham last night, but it was notable that his reaction was not as exciting as usual.

The West Ham forward was quite calm after finding the back of the net twice.

And he was asked if his reaction was due to the fact that he was taking things so seriously, as West Ham is in the battle for the top four places.

But Antonio told the Sky Sports program: “It’s not even that. I have had a couple of goals disallowed through VAR and I don’t want to be there dancing and the goals disallowed. It’s a bit embarrassing.

“So I toned down the celebrations because I thought, do you know what I don’t want to do at those dances?”

That answer certainly fell ill with Sky’s team of experts, who have always enjoyed Antonio’s celebrations.

“So we have something else to blame on the VAR, the celebrations,” Carragher said.

And Jones agreed, saying, “I have to say, I’m really not happy with that. If that’s true, he will stop celebrating for the VAR.

If West Ham makes it into the top four, Antonio may not be able to contain his celebrations this time around.
