SURREY (NEWS 1130) – A South Surrey MLA says it's time to change after another deadly crash last week at a busy intersection in Cloverdale.
There are no traffic lights or barriers at the intersection of 176th Street and 40th Street. Stephanie Cadieux says she has seen a series of calls over the years because traffic is so fast.
"I wonder why there is no barrier or no light when all other intersections are controlled intersections," she says. "Meanwhile, many people are waiting to cross and turn off the highway, and I'm afraid people will get impatient when they get there."

Cadieux now asks the Department of Transportation why this is the only uncontrolled intersection crossing such a busy highway.
"It is tragic for someone to lose their lives, which could have been an avoidable circumstance, and this time, along with my own observations of increasing traffic in the region, I thought it was time to ask a few more questions check if it is not time to change anything there. "
ICBC statistics show there were 63 collisions at the intersection between 2013 and 2017. In 31 of these incidents, there were losses.
