This galaxy pair that collides is called UGC 2369. The brown dust and gas bridge, which connects like fingers, shows their gravitational interaction. Such blends of galaxies fundamentally transform any object, and whether you like it or not, we are next in line. The Milky Way is due to our own galactic interaction with the nearby Andromeda. In four billion years, we will merge into a single galaxy, provisionally nicknamed Milkomeda.
