Spain adds 15,156 new cases of COVID-19

Nov 21 (Reuters) – The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Spain stood at 1,556,730 on Friday, adding 15,156 new infections to the total number announced on Thursday.

The department headed by Salvador Illa indicated that the number of cases with a diagnosis date of the last 24 hours – until Friday – was 6,021, compared to the 6,915 announced on Thursday.

In the last 14 days until Friday, the number of cases amounted to 197,266, which represents a daily average of 14,090 infections.

For its part, the number of deaths due to the epidemic in Spain in the last 7 days was 1,341 —an average of 191 per day—, compared to 1,313 registered on Thursday. The total number of deaths from the virus amounted to 42,619.

Regarding capacity in hospitals, an indicator of the possible saturation of the health system, patients admitted for COVID on Friday occupied 14.52% of the available beds, while in intensive care units (ICU) the percentage it was 31.02%.
