- In a recent interview, William Shatner does not rule out a return as Captain Kirk.
- However, the “Star Trek” authors would first have to inspire him for a comeback.
- The time difference and Kirk’s death in particular cause difficulties here.
Since “Star Trek: Gathering of Generations” from 1994, the now 89-year-old (!) William Shatner has not slipped into his by far best-known role of Captain / Admiral James T. Kirk. Shatner’s last “Star Trek” movie, which brought him together with Patrick Stewart’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard, ended with Kirk’s death and burial on the planet Veridian III.
But in a newly published interview, William Shatner is now very open to a return to the universe originally devised by Gene Roddenberry, much to the delight of the fans – but only on one condition: “If you can write an interesting role and explain the 55-year difference , I might consider it, “Shatner told the website Inverse. At the moment, however, the star has a lot to do and “Star Trek” is a thing of the past.
So William Shatner could return as Captain Kirk
Since the spectacular season 2 finale of the “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian” at the latest, a previous franchise death does not rule out the return of an iconic figure. So William Shatner could return digitally rejuvenated – but in which series?
