“Star Wars” star wants to become the new Marvel heroine · KINO.de

From one Disney franchise to the next. “Star Wars” star Daisy Ridley has announced an interest in the Marvel films and wants to become a new heroine.

With “Spider-Man: A New Universe” there was already an impression of a female version of the friendly spider from the neighborhood with Gwen Stacey. But a live-action version by Jessica Dew alias Spider-Woman is still a long time coming. A secret Marvel project by actress and director Olivia Wilde (“Booksmart”) is said to be a “Spider Woman” film, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

After all, an actress has already brought herself up for discussion for the role. “Star Wars” star Daisy Ridley could well envision switching to the Marvel franchise. Author Sariah Wilson (“Roommaid”) summarized a conversation on Twitter that she had with Ridley:

“What so many of you have been waiting for: I asked Daisy Ridley if she’d heard about the Spider Woman rumors. She said no and asked what it was about. I explained it to her and she said, ‘OMG, I would love to play Spider-Woman. But is that more part of the extended Spiderverse? ‘”

These Marvel projects are still to come:

Daisy Ridley is a fan of “WandaVision” and Co.

Wilson elaborates on the conversation in further tweets. Ridley is probably open to participation in another franchise. She herself loved “Spider-Man: A New Universe” and also thinks “WandaVision” is great. Accordingly, she would be very happy about a Marvel role.

The “Star Wars” sequels were both a blessing and a curse for Ridley. On the one hand, she made her breakthrough with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, but after the end of the trilogy she was not offered any roles. Despite a few applications, it was repeatedly rejected. Ridley’s association with the huge franchise has arguably put off some studios and filmmakers. After all, it was such a hiatus for the actress after being part of the franchise for five years.

Meanwhile, Ridley is moving forward again, regardless of whether we will see her as Spider-Woman. In the science fiction film “Chaos Walking”, which is due to be released on April 1, 2021, she will be seen alongside “Spider-Man” actor Tom Holland. She also starred in the war drama Women in the Castle, which is still in production. A “Spider-Woman” movie could definitely still fit into your calendar.
