Coming to PC and console this “spring”.
The publisher Dotemu offered another trailer for the Streets of Rage 4 fighting game revival, this time sporting a four-player cooperative and revealing the new character Floyd Iraia.
Streets of Rage 4 is the work of Lizardcube, the developer of the wonderful 2017 Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, and Streets of Fury’s Guard Crush Games studio, and seems to offer a delicately modernized version of the beat-’em- a side scrolling the action of the original Sega trilogy.
Presents a new captivating artistic style, a soundtrack with music by the likes of Yūzō Koshiro (Streets of Rage 1, 2, and 3, Sonic the Hedgehog) and Motohiro Kawashima (Streets of Rage 2 and 3, Shinobi 2) and promises “extended fighting skills”.
Previously, Dotemu confirmed Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding and Adam Hunter as returning characters from previous games and also unveiled the newcomer Cherry Hunter. Floyd Iraia, the newly revealed face of Streets of Rage 4, is described as a “cybernetic brother” and plunges onto the scene, and in the latest trailer, with two formidable metal fists flying in flight.
There’s also a look at multiplayer in the new video, with Dotemu now confirming that two friends will be able to take on the challenges of the game together online and that up to four players can join in offline cooperative mode.
There is no release date for Streets of Rage 4 yet, but it is expected to arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC this time in the spring.
