The total of deaths confirmed by covid in these months amounts to 2,946. To these should be added another 1,105 with compatible symptoms, 1,028 in residences and 77 in hospitals. The global death toll stands at 4,051, with 2,172 in its facilities and 1,879 in hospitals.

Covid incidence continues to fall but ICU admissions are increasing

The fourteen-day incidence of covid in Cantabria continues with its slow but steady decline, and this Saturday is already 180 cases per one hundred thousand inhabitants. These are two points less than yesterday and it confirms a downward trend observed for almost a month and that the worst of the third wave of the pandemic is close to being overcome in the region.

It is the most positive side of the data released today, although there is a parameter, fundamental to lower the alert level, that does not improve. It is the admissions to the ICU. Today there are three more serious patients with coronavirus than yesterday who require intensive care and there are already 26. Occupancy in the ICU rises 22.2% in a single day, a percentage that has to fall considerably for us to reach level 2 alert. At the moment we are still in level 3 (high risk), and it will not drop to 2 until 150 cases are reached in the fourteen-day incidence and the pressure in the ICUs falls below 15%.

In the data provided this Saturday by Health, corresponding to the records until last midnight, there is no no new deceased. Yesterday ten victims were registered, but they corresponded to unreported out-of-hospital deaths that occurred weeks before.

The number of infections has hardly changed in the last day: they have been 75 new cases those detected yesterday (one more than the day before). As for coronavirus patients who require hospitalization, today there are five fewer people (119, 26 of them in ICU) and hospital occupancy drops to 7.9%, which is why hospitals have begun their particular de-escalation, releasing spaces that were dedicated to covid patients. A decline that, however, has not been translated into intensive care units, in which the number of admissions has risen.

If the incidence to fourteen has dropped two points, that of cases to seven days has dropped by one and now it is 82 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants (yesterday it was 83). And at the same time, there is another parameter that continues to decrease, and that is the test positivity of virus detection that is being carried out: with the data for this Saturday it is 4.7%, three tenths less than yesterday.

The distribution by hospitals is 84 patients in the Valdecilla de Santander Hospital, 30 in the Sierrallana de Torrelavega and 5 in Laredo.

With the data updated at the end of Friday, at the moment there are in the autonomous community 2,578 active cases of coronavirus (104 less than Thursday, more than a thousand less in the last week), of which 2,459 are in home quarantine.

In this way, since the beginning of the pandemic, the accumulated positives reach 25,478, of which 24,219 have been detected by PCR tests and 1,259 through antibody detection tests. The tests carried out total 454,436, which represents 78,177 per 100,000 inhabitants.

For their part, the cured reached 22,388 in total, which is 88 percent, and the death toll remains at 512.

Coronavirus in Navarra: new cases of Covid-19 drop 21% in a week

Navarra detected Sunday at least 80 new cases of Covid-19 infection, 7 less than Saturday, according to provisional data from the Department of Health. This is the weekend with the lowest data since the beginning of January. The week therefore closed with 1,150 positives detected, 21.1% less than the same previous period, when 1,457 were accounted for.

The positivity rate, at 4.8% yesterday after carrying out 1,652 tests on the public network, it remained one more day below the 5% that the WHO sets as a parameter that indicates that the pandemic is under control in a territory.

Over the past week, 191 cases were detected in the Community on Monday (6.2% positivity), 167 on Tuesday (4.9%), 229 on Wednesday (6%), 225 on Thursday (6.9 %), 171 on Friday (6.1%) and 87 this Saturday (3.7%).

Remember that fewer tests are carried out on weekends and therefore the number of positives also decreases. According to the statistical projections managed by the provincial government, of the new daily cases, approximately 5% will end up hospitalized, 0.5% in an ICU bed and 0.5% will die.

February 7 Caparroso topped the daily list of cases by municipalities and health zones, with 8 infections. They were followed by Chantrea with 6, Irurtzun with 4, Rochapea, San Juan and Azpilagaña, with 3, and Pitillas, Sangüesa, Campanas, Tudela Oeste, Bera and Villafranca with 2.

The Government of Navarra extended on January 27 restrictive measures in the face of the covid-19 pandemic, valid until February 15, both the decree of the president and the regional order of the Minister of Health. It also expanded at least until this Thursday, February 11 current capacity restrictions and the closure of the interior of the hotel business, although the terraces have been kept open with 100% of their capacity. This week we will see if the Regional Executive maintains these measures or if it undertakes any flexibility.

The communities, in general, have verified this Sunday improvements in epidemiological data in accumulated incidence, new diagnosed cases, hospital admissions or number of deaths, before starting a new week in which the restrictions are maintained to try to contain this third wave.

The arrival this Saturday of the first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, the third against the coronavirus to be administered in Spain, after those of Pfizer and Moderna, will serve to give a boost to the first phase of the vaccination plan.

Despite the figures, most communities have extended the measures to face this third wave of the pandemic and only some have relaxed the restrictions in the face of the new week that begins.

Saturday’s data

Navarra detected 87 new cases on Saturday, according to data provided by the Navarra Institute of Public and Labor Health (ISPLN), after carrying out 2,350 tests in the public health system (1,991 PCR tests and 359 antigen tests), with a 3 , 7% positive. This is followed by the group aged 30 to 44 years, with 16%, and those under 15 years of age and the group aged 60 to 75 years, both with 13%. Finally, the group of people over 75 years of age comprises 8% of new infections. The average age of the new positives is 43.5 years. Regarding gender, 59% of the cases are men and 41% women.

From the perspective of hospital occupancy, according to the Navarre Health Service-Osasunbidea, after the balance of income and discharges, 187 people remain admitted with and due to covid-19 (five less than on Saturday), 32 of which are in ICU posts and another 15 in home hospitalization (two more). The rest, 140 patients, are on the floor (seven less). All these people tested positive in a PCR test, whether or not this infection was the reason for their hospital admission, and they occupy covid-19 spaces. The cumulative incidence of virus infections in Navarra stands at 49,716 cases.

This Saturday, 617 doses were administered, which brings the number of vaccines administered to date to 34,497, of the 34,795 received in Navarra. The people who have completed their vaccination to date are 11,069, after receiving their second dose yesterday 602 of them.
