In the dystopian future it shows Watch Dogs Legion London is a city ruled by artificial intelligence, with numerous social problems drowned out by police repression and a large number of unemployed. A private army has established a police state and controls the movements of the population.
The third chapter of the series brings back DedSec as a resistance organization against that tyranny that shows the potential dangers of technology when used uncontrollably, only in this case there is not a single protagonist but, like the title itself From the game indicates, there are a multitude of characters that the player can persuade to join the cause and thus become protagonists, with the help of Sabine Brandts, the last DedSec representative left in London.
Ubisoft claims that in Watch Dogs Legion You can recruit – and therefore control – any character that is in the open world and if he is injured in a disabling way or dies you just have to go to control another agent of the resistance. When the character the player controls meets a Londoner, he can examine him with his mobile and see his characteristics, to see if he is interested in trying to recruit him or not. Among the characters that can be recruited is what is probably the best known Spanish influencer, ElRubius.
The game of a thousand protagonistsIn order for a character to become an agent and, therefore, to be controlled, you must first do him a favor consisting of one or more missions, and not all the inhabitants of the London city are willing to be part of the resistance. This mechanic of being able to go from one protagonist to another was already tested by Ubisoft at the launch of Wii U with ZombiU, an exclusive game for the Nintendo console, and is an original way of presenting the secondary missions.
Each inhabitant of London has their own characteristics and even a different personality that makes them react differently to a situation; Some are strong, others are expert hackers, others have the ability to use special weapons or are suitable for a certain infiltration … homeless, shop assistants, doctors, beekeepers … the more people recruited for DedSec the more chances there will be to find the ideal agent for each mission; the range of characters is immense, from a stealth specialist kid to a seemingly harmless old lady. This gives a lot of depth to the title and makes it possible for the game experience to be different for each player.
Although missions can be tackled in a variety of ways, the game is more about stealth than straightforward action. Given the Legion setting, technology and computer hacking skills play an important role; the best exponent is perhaps the spider robot, very useful for infiltrating the ventilation ducts of buildings and for hacking.
Watch Dogs Legion has now come out on current consoles and PC, the upgrade to the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles will be free. With the launch, the single player campaign mode is available, which will be expanded on December 3 with cooperative multiplayer for up to four players.
