Taron Egerton, the protagonist of Kingsman, is going to star in a movie about Tetris for Apple TV.
Ever since he began his career as the Kingsman’s new secret service recruit, the Taron Egerton’s career has done nothing but go from strength to strength with somewhat more unknown roles such as the one he played in Eddie the Eagle to win a Golden Globe thanks to his portrayal of Elton John in Rocketman.
And although his name has lately been linked to the replacement of Hugh Jackman as the mutant Wolverine, the new English project is very far from superheroes, in fact it is closer to the world of video games, as it has been published The Hollywood Reporter, Egerton will star in the new Apple TV movie about Tetris.
Tetris: The MovieWell, that’s the name of the project, will tell the story of Alexey Pajitnov, the Russian programmer who created the game in the 1980s during the fall of the Iron Curtain, and his relationship with Hank Rogers, played by Egerton, a Danish video game enthusiast who helped the project spread around the world and with whom it came to founding The Tetris Company to be able to handle all derived rights, in addition to having serious legal disputes.
So all those who expected the film to resemble Sony’s Pixels can breathe easy, because this time we will not see blocks of different ways talking and having adventures with each other, but we will delve into the history of how one of the best known video games was created and expanded, and immortals of the world.
