“We are in full consultation and agreement with the homeland Turkey,” declared the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (RTCN), Ersin Tatar, in his meeting with the United Nations Special Envoy for Cyprus, Jane Holl Lute.
Tatar openly stated that the following negotiations between two states (Turkish and Greek Cypriots) living side by side, will be carried out in consultation with Turkey and on the basis of sovereign equality.
“We manage this process with Turkey. As a Turkish Cypriot side, we are in constant contact with Ankara./…/,” he said.
“I am very happy for this meeting. There was a Lute who really took us seriously and came here to interview us after having thoroughly analyzed what we were saying. This is an expression that we have achieved something at this stage. The world has begun to better see the reality of Cyprus. Of course, we are in full consultation and agreement with the homeland Turkey. This issue must be addressed with reason and logic for regional peace, stability and the benefit of all. I contemplate that we now begin to see the fruits of work one hundred percent in harmony with Turkey, “said the Turkish Cypriot leader.
