BARCELONA, 19 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The organization of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell has decided to maintain the homage of track 1 of RCT Barcelona-1899, which will be named after Manuel Santana, the champion of the 1970 edition, who was to be recognized in 2020, whose edition was canceled for the coronavirus, for the 50th anniversary of his victory.
Court 1, located next to the RCTB-1899 clubhouse, is the second most important after the Rafa Nadal Court, hosting until Thursday numerous matches of the individual table of the tournament, which will take place from April 17 to 25.
Santana is one of the 13 tennis players who throughout history have won the title of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell on more than one occasion, with the record held by Rafa Nadal himself with 11 victories.
In the 2021 edition, the tribute for his victory in the 50-year-old edition corresponded to Manuel Orantes, winner of the Godó three times and who was already honored in 2019 for the 50th anniversary of his first triumph.
