The British rush to book their holidays in Spain

Britons are rushing to book their summer getaways following news that the UK will allow international travel from May 17. And that’s despite the fact that a professor from the Sage (Group of Scientific Advisors for Emergencies) advised tourists not to travel abroad before 2023, reports the Daily Mail.

Some of Britain’s largest airlines and travel companies revealed an increase in holiday bookings to destinations such as Greece, Spain and Turkey in the hours after Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed the roadmap out of lockdown yesterday.

EasyJet has experienced a 337% increase in flight bookings and a 630% increase in holiday bookings for destinations such as Alicante, Malaga, Palma, Faro and Crete after 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. Of the growing bookings, most are for August, followed by July and then September.
