A diver died after he appeared unconscious off the coast of Dorset.

A diving ship west of Portland made a Mayday call on Thursday at 13:50 CET, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said.

The 50-year-old diver from Eastleigh, Hampshire, was brought on the Weymouth RNLI lifeboat, but died shortly after arriving at Dorset County Hospital.

The police said his death is not considered suspicious.

A helicopter paramedic was wrapped aboard the lifeboat to assess the condition of the diver. However, it was decided to take him by sea to Weymouth while receiving first aid, the RNLI said.

The dude's buddy was also hospitalized for examination, the MCA added.
