The family hosts a surprise birthday party that left 18 relatives with coronavirus

Films of a surprise birthday party surfaced that resulted in 18 relatives infected with coronavirus, including two 80-year-old people.

The chilling video shows the family celebrating at the party in Carrollton, Texas, completely unaware of a relative who had no idea he had the killer virus.

The undiagnosed reveler had showed up with seven other family members at the party on May 30, ABC reported.

Despite claiming that seven of the 25 people on the bash were socially mocked, they coveted Covid-19 and passed it on to 10 other relatives, leaving a total of 18 family members infected.

In addition to the two elderly relatives, others who have been infected include a cancer patient, two young children and two grandparents.

The party led 18 relatives to contract the coronavirus

Three ended up in hospital including Kathy Barbosa, who suffers from breast cancer, and her parents.

Ron Barbosa, Kathy’s brother, said she went to the party and contracted the coronavirus while undergoing chemotherapy, even though she had socially moved out onto a porch.

Ron, who is married to a doctor, declined to attend the party for his daughter-in-law because of safety concerns in the midst of the pandemic.

He said that Kathy is said to be recovering and feeling better.

Frank Barbosa is in life support in the hospital

Carole, Ron and Kathy’s mom, is also in the hospital after she is believed to have been infected when she entered the party to drop something.

Later she passed it on to her husband Frank and they were hospitalized four days later with Carole who was admitted first on June 13th.

Ron said his father is currently in life support in an intensive care unit and may soon be on a ventilator.

He added: “My father is holding on to a thread.

“They’re saying this is one of the last straws for my father.”

Ron said that although everyone did their best to stay socially distant, it wasn’t enough at the party that, by current health standards, “seemed harmless.”

Texas saw an increase in coronavirus cases this week – with 4,389 patients currently hospitalized.

Dr. Marc Boom, president of the Methodist hospital in Houston, said the cases are “avalanche”.

He added: “We will definitely see more people die from this peak.

“It is possible to open up at a reasonable pace and coexist with the virus, but it requires millions and millions of people to do the right thing.”

To date there have been 137,152 coronavirus cases in Texas and 2,334 deaths.
