The family of a Macclesfield heartbroken man has paid tribute to a "beloved character" after losing his life this weekend.

Peter Robson was taken to Macclesfield Hospital after being seriously injured on a property on Glegg Street.

The 59-year-old unfortunately passed away on Saturday (9th November).

A statement by his family said: "Peter was lovingly known to all who knew and loved him as Archie.

"He was a lovely, intelligent guy, friendly to everyone and a character people simply loved.

"We will miss him very much."

Police have charged two men with murder after the incident.

25-year-old Daniel Whitmore from Mayfield Avenue in Macclesfield and 38-year-old Daniel Mayers from Glegg Street in Macclesfield will be appearing at the Crewe Magistrates' Court on Monday, November 11.

Mayers was arrested on Friday night, November 8, and Whitmore on Saturday, November 9.

Both were subsequently charged and remanded.
