BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Telemundo Valle Central) – A street in the East Bakersfield area will get more light as part of a new lighting project called the “Kentucky Street Greening Project.”

Using a grant from the state Natural Resources Agency, the city is installing nearly 36,000 square feet of new sidewalk, planting hundreds of drought-tolerant trees and shrubs, adding restrooms, and bike racks. City officials say the lights will make residents feel safer.
