The United States would start vaccination against COVID in December

The United States government is thinking about start a vaccination campaign against COVID, before the end of the year, waiting for vaccines to have the green light to start using.

The idea is to take vaccines to different parts of the country, as soon as they are available medically, so 24 hours after approval, they are already being distributed doses people in different parts of the country.

According to the advisers of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA for its acronym in English), there will be a meeting from December 8 to 10 to discuss the approval of vaccines, Pfizer and Moderna, which the companies reported, are 95% effective.

“Normally, with the level of effectiveness that we have (95%), iimmunizing approximately 70% of the population would give you true herd immunity. It will probably happen in May, or something like that depending on our plans, “Moncef Slaoui, who is head of the group representing the United States government, told CNN.

This request is expected to be approved, as there are already several vaccine trials, where a great response has been achieved in about 40 thousand people. Tests in which there have been no serious side effects and 95% of the cases have been immune to COVID-19.

The anti-COVID vaccination campaign would be starting in mid-December and it would be maintained until it could reach a large part of the population of the United States, in order to reduce the number of infections in the American Union.
