This is the Exynos 2100: at the height of the Apple A14, Snapdragon 888 and Kirin 9000 | Technology

Samsung is going to launch its new generation of Galaxy S21 mobiles and with them it will debut its new processor, the Exynos 2100. After years in which the company launched different versions with Exynos and Snapdragon it seems that this time we will see an Exynos version to match of the latest SoCs.

This new chip is manufactured in 5nm technology and offers a configuration very similar to that presented by Apple with its A14 and Qualcomm with the Snapdragon 888. According to Samsung, this manufacturing technology achieves a performance increase of 10% with a decrease consumption of 20%.

We talk about a CPU configured in a triple cluster that adds 8 cores. The basic tasks are performed on four basic cores (Cortex-A55) and we have 3 high-performance cores (Cortex-A78) and as the top core there is a single Cortex X1 core customized by Samsung and running at 2.9 GHz.

Samsung has achieved better cache memory integration, a more powerful scheduler and also maintain a more efficient voltage control. With all this Samsung that gets a 30% improvement in terms of CPU (19% in single core mode and 33% in multicore mode).

The Integrated GPU has also improved with the ARM Mali G78, with 14 graphics engines, achieving a 40% performance improvement.

Samsung has developed AMIGO as a way to optimize energy consumption while playing games or watching multimedia content.

AI and Multimedia improvements

The company has commented on the AI ​​acceleration support and is capable of 26 TOPS thanks to a triple NPU design. Curiously the same result that the Snapdragon 888 achieves.

The energy efficiency of the IA motor has been improved, allowing operation that not only does not increase the consumption of the previous generation, but reduces it.

One of the applications of AI is the processing and capture of images and here there is also improvement since the system is capable of recognizing faces, skin types and even hair.

In terms of camera mounts, it can handle sensors up to 200 Mpx, 6 sensors in total and 4 simultaneously. This chip offers the power to record 4K up to 120fps and even 8K recording. All with HDR10 + compatibility.

Integrated 5G connectivity

Speaking of connectivity, it is a 5G chip, integrating AP and 5G modem inside this SoC. It is capable of transferring up to 7.35 Gbps on mmWave networks and up to 5.1 Gbps on sub 6GHz networks.

This chip has a small security core integrated, which the company is sure to take advantage of in its solutions Knox of Samsung mobiles.
