Timo Werner transfer alternatives that Liverpool should consider in the summer window

Timo Werner has been strongly linked to a summer transfer to Liverpool from RB Leipzig but if the deal has not been completed, there are other alternatives for Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp has one of the most devastating front-three combinations in Europe, with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

However, the depth of the team can never be too much and as Liverpool tries to improve in every possible way, Werner is said to be a target for Klopp.

Here are three more alternatives for Klopp if he wanted to strengthen his attack options at Anfield.

Ciro Immobile

The attacker has become one of the most lethal attackers in Europe in his time at Lazio so far and shows no signs of loosening in front of the door.

Immobile scored 27 goals in Serie A this season, scoring 16 in the last season, 27 in the previous season and 23 in the 2016/17 campaign for Lazio.

The thirty-year-old is not blessed with Werner’s speed, but his ending is sublime and with the rhythm of Mane and Salah on his sides, it could be an explosive trio.

Immobile also has the most urgent duels out of three, and Werner, with 178 this season, who is the type of player that attracts Klopp.

The only critical point is that Klopp has already worked with Immobile, making it his signature record in Dortmund, and it didn’t go very well.

Josip Ilicic

The Atalanta striker has scored 15 Serie A goals so far in this campaign and really attracted attention in a recent Champions League game.

Ilicic scored four goals in an incredible game that saw Atalanta beat Valencia 8-4 in total to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals.

During the game, the Slovenian striker demonstrated his variety of finals, also scoring once in the first leg.

Of the three alternatives, Ilicic has completed the most dribbling this season with 127 and even the most offensive duels have won with 194.

Wissam Ben Yedder

The Monaco forward has scored 18 goals this season in his first season in his native France.

Ben Yedder, like Firmino, is a defender from the front and has the most successful defensive actions among the four that speak of attackers.

Similarly, the 29-year-old has so far made 65 ball fetches for Monaco this season, more than Immobile, Ilicic and Werner.

On average over 90 minutes, Immobile has the best score with 1.05 goals per game, while Ben Yedder has the worst with 0.71.

Ilicic completes the most dribbling every 90 minutes during the season with the Atalanta striker registering a score of 7.31 successful take-ons per game.

However, Ilicic, 32, is the oldest of the three alternative strikers, with his market value that will surely worry the Reds.

That’s why it makes sense to sign Werner, who is only 21, but these are three other alternatives in case the negotiations don’t happen with the Bundesliga team.
