Transport investment will revolutionize the rail and road network in North Yorkshire

The Deputy of Thirsk and Malton, Kevin Hollinrake, has welcomed the call for a doubling of transport investment over the next 30 years.

The far-reaching and ambitious plan for the north of the north includes a total of 100 to 120 billion pounds to be committed over the next 30 years.

Mr Hollinrake has played a leading role in the bid, including the coordination of a letter sent to the Chancellor in July 2018 signed by 82 Northern MPs. He was co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership.

Hollinrake said, "Northern Powerhouse MPs called on the Ministry of Finance last year to devote more money to improvements in the north of the traffic.

"In North Yorkshire, this would include new and refurbished vehicles and more frequent services with the TransPennine Express. the much-needed two-lane road on the A64 between Hopgrove and Barton Hill and the provision of high-speed railways to the north. "
