Police are urgently calling for witnesses, information, a dashcam or CCTV footage following a serious collision in York this afternoon.
On Wednesday, June 12, 2019, around 5 pm, police were informed of a serious collision at Low Poppleton Lane, York, involving a pedestrian – a 12-year-old girl – and a motorcycle that left the scene.
The pedestrian suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Leeds General Hospital for treatment.
The motorcycle, gray or silver, left in an unknown direction. The runner is described as wearing a black jacket and a white helmet.
The scene is closed and will remain so for several hours while the Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The girl's family is with her in these difficult times.
Officers make a call so that anyone who has witnessed the collision or exit of the motorcycle, or anyone with a control camera or other CCTV sequence from the incident, contacts the North Yorkshire Police. Please do so urgently, citing NYP-12062019-0335.
Officers also call on the rider of the motorcycle, or anyone who knows where the rider and motorcycle are, to immediately contact the North Yorkshire Police, or alternatively through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
