It's Merseyside Derby Day. Families are temporarily divided, friends become enemies for a short time and the Liverpool band Circa Waves are torn apart.

Before today's meeting in the Premier League in Anfield, we caught up with the band (@CircaWaves), who premiered the video today Jacqueline from the new album Sad happyto tell secret football love songs, gentleman's agreements, rivalry and more …

Are you ever sitting together to see the derby?

Sam: We have always seen only one derby together. We went to a pub in Dublin and watched the 0: 0 in April 2018. So there was nothing to fall for.

Kieran: Normally, I avoid watching the Derby with Liverpool fans. It is unbearable.

Is it a merciless ripping of the winners after the game, or are you trying to keep it quieter?

Kieran: In all the derbies during Circa Waves, I could not do a single ribbing. A real shame. Someday Sam will get it!

Sam: In the early days we nearly broke up a couple of times after the games, so we had to agree on a gentleman to keep it civil.

How did you become a blue / red? Is it going back a long way in the family?

Kieran: I can not remember. I suppose my brother once picked an Everton kit and that was it.

Sam: I really came to football after moving to Liverpool University. I've lived with Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton fans, so I watched all the games for a while and fell in love with LFC.

Are your families also divided in terms of loyalty?

Kieran: Yes, my dad and my sister are Reds and I, my brother and my mother are blues. It is the best way to be. Make the derby day interesting.

Sam: Some of my cousins are Manchester United fans, so it'll be good to see them over Christmas.

Which player did you play when playing soccer on the streets of Liverpool?

Kieran: Andrei Kanchelskis. I played the same position and thought I was just as good.

And which of the current crops would you put on the back of your shirt?

Kieran: I like Andre Gomes. He is exceptionally talented. This injury was terrible.

Sam: Andy Robertson.

Has anyone in the band ever written a song that secretly really deals with LFC or EFC?

Kieran: All my love songs are secretly from Duncan Ferguson.

Sam: I think our last album How is it over there? Basically, Kieran was wondering how great it would be if he supported Liverpool.

What's your favorite derby goal?

Kieran: When Andy Johnson hit and we won 3-0. That was so long ago [2006],

Sam: Divock Origis goal last December [a 96th-minute winner] Just because Kieran was so stupid and knew how annoyed he had been to lose the game so much.

Looking at Wednesday night, where will you see the game?

Kieran: The house of my buddy Phil. He is a real Blue. He usually hits the wall when we lose, which is good value for money.

Sam: Somewhere in a pub in London.

What is your prediction for the game?

Kieran: 1-1
